This picture known as “The Tackle” was a game-saving stop that secured a CIF championship at Huyck Stadium in 2010. With seconds remaining, Joe Valla (3rd generation Brave) made the tackle on the 1 yard line as time ran out, giving the Braves championship number 4!

#63 is future NFL hall of fame quarterback inductee Aaron Rodgers’ dad Ed Rodgers. #85 is Russell Bollinger who played 8 years in the NFL. #23 (behind #41) is Dave Stegman, first round draft pick in Major League Baseball around ‘76. #25 is the twin brother of the only person in the photo without a uniform. They are Kelly and Kerry Candaele (can’t tell them apart). Kelly wrote the screenplay to the hit movie “A League of Their Own” based of the life of their mother, Helen Candaele.

Napoleon Kaufman and Tommy Thompson - teammates at Lompoc High School. They played against each other at University of Washington and University of Oregon. They also played against one another in the NFL on the Raiders and 49ers. They were CIF champs as well!
Cynthia Morr, LHS class of 1972, shared this photo of her grandson, Jeremiah Garcia who graduated from LHS in 2018. He played defensive line, nose guard, and tackle.
